Kampala (Uganda), July 24, 2010 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ouled Salek, held talks with his African counterparts and observers from Asia, Europe, Latin America and Australia, on the sidelines of the 17th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council.The workings of the 17th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council continue for the second day in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, by debating and adopting series of reports which submitted to the Council by the Committee of the Permanent Representatives.
The opening session witnessed debate and unanimous ratification of report of the President of the AU Commission on the activities of the commission (from January to June 2010), which confirmed the principal position of the African Union on the question of Western Sahara, and asserted the commitment and support of the Union to the Saharawi self-determination as the only solution to the conflict in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council and General.
Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) is represented in this meeting by a delegation led by Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Minister of Foreign Affairs and comprises Dr. Sidi Mohamed Ammar, ambassador to Ethiopia and permanent representative to African Union, Habib Bukhris, ambassador to Uganda, and Omar, first counsellor in Saharawi Embassy in Uganda.
