Kidnapped Sahrawi found in Moroccan jail of Akasha


Laayoune (Occupied Territories), Dec 31, 2009 (SPS) - Former Sahrawi political prisoner Hadi Ahmed Mahmoud Alkenan was found in Okasha prison in Casablanca, Morocco, whom has been abducted by the Moroccan authorities with a member of his family, Mahmoudi Hussein, in Rabat, his family affirmed.

The family of the political prisoner said her son lived in very miserable conditions in the prison, where he is subjected to harassment and ill-treatment because of his political position on the question of Western Sahara, after relinquishing the Moroccan documents and having identity card of the Sahrawi Republic.

Sahrawi human rights sources alerted that the Moroccan authorities fabricated criminal charges, which he denied entirely when he was brought before the prosecutor and asserted that the real reason behind his arrest was on the grounds of his political position on the question of Western Sahara.
